Job Summary

Develop expertise and provide support in state and/or federal registration practices (paths outlined below). Work closely with government officials in order to properly file necessary applications for approval. Build and maintain business relationships with government officials to assist in facilitating issues as they arise with respect to product registrations. Develop and maintain working knowledge of applicable regulations for federal and states. Develop a working knowledge of the requirements for tonnage reporting.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Develop expertise in State and/or Federal registration practices:

Federal:

  • Prepare/submit/manage EPA registration packages.
  • Coordinate with R&D to obtain appropriate product chemistry, toxicology, and efficacy studies necessary for regulatory actions requiring data support.
  • Engage in the product label review / sign-off process to ensure that product labels are produced by Company for compliance with product base labels, Company standards, and good regulatory practices.
  • Coordinate the 6(a)2 reporting process.
  • Develop and maintain good relations with relevant Federal personnel.
  • Stay abreast of applicable regulations (both federal & state), interpret and communicate impact
  • Represent organization as requested with industry/regulatory organizations (HCPA, AAPCO)
  • Maintain the regulatory files and database with respect to product labels and product base labels.

State:

  • Prepare/submit/manage State pesticide and fertilizer registration packages.
  • Coordinate with R&D to obtain appropriate product chemistry, toxicology, and efficacy studies necessary for regulatory actions requiring data support.
  • Engage in the product label review / sign-off process to ensure that product labels are produced by Company for compliance with product base labels, Company standards, and good regulatory practices.
  • Maintain existing State pesticide and fertilizer registrations by managing product renewals and label revisions.
  • Manage the stop sale process and the state sales restriction process.
  • Develop and maintain good relations with relevant State personnel.
  • Stay abreast of applicable regulations (both state & federal), interpret and communicate impact
  • Represent organization as requested with industry/regulatory organizations (ALSTAR, NPIRS, HCPA, AAPCO)
  • Maintain the regulatory files and database with respect to new product registrations, product renewals, and product discontinuances.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/Submit/Manage all fertilizer tonnage reports to applicable government agencies. Responsibility entails Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual, and Annual reporting of state specific sales data and securing funds needed to satisfy state requirements.
  • Label reviews/creations; advertising reviews; website reviews; catalog reviews
  • Develop and maintain regulatory files and electronic databases with respect to new product registrations, product renewals, product discontinuances, facility licenses and tonnage reporting. Manage the internal systems SAP, SPX, and Workfront as it pertains to pesticide registrations. Manage the stop sale process and the state sales restriction process.
  • Support the senior regulatory staff in their work.

Education and Experience Profile

  • B.S. or B.A. in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or similar science
    • Exceptions to this education requirement may be made for candidates possessing:
    • B.A. in a non-science discipline, coupled with an advanced degree (MA, JD, etc.); or
    • B.A. in a non-science discipline, coupled with relevant material experience in the pesticide industry or applicable regulatory agency.

Required Skills

  • Must be a results-oriented team player capable of working in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Must be a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision, and able to perform under pressure and in ambiguous situations.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented, with solid analytical and decision making skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communications skills, along with influencing and negotiation skills, process knowledge in functional area, and an ability to communicate regulatory and technical issues in lay terms.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal and influencing skills and be able to act in an appropriate role depending on the situation – facilitator, contributor, leader, executor, etc.
  • Must be proficient in Windows-based applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access (preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience in a technical discipline or regulated field.
  • 1+ years of experience in regulatory work preferred.
  • Specific experience with California pesticide submissions preferred
  • Specific experience with FIFRA (EPA) preferred

Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Minimal travel required.

This is a hybrid role, working from home Monday's and Friday's and in our Earth City, Mo office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.
