Job Overview

R.D. Godsey Construction Co., a trusted name in residential construction for over 50 years in the Bristol area, is hiring a dependable and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support our field operations team. In this role, you'll operate a variety of heavy machinery for tasks such as foundation excavation, utility trenching, and site grading. We're looking for a candidate with strong technical skills, a safety-first mindset, and a commitment to high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of heavy equipment including:
    • Excavators
    • Dozers
    • Loaders
    • Dump trucks
    • Roll-off trucks
  • Perform tasks such as land clearing, foundation excavation, utility trenching, and site grading.
  • Conduct pre-use and post-use equipment inspections to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Follow site-specific protocols and safety regulations to prevent accidents and ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Coordinate with field crews and supervisors to meet daily project goals.
  • Report any equipment issues, damage, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience operating heavy construction equipment preferred.
  • Proficiency in excavation, grading, utility trenching, and hauling.
  • Valid Class B CDL driver's license required. Class A preferred.
  • Knowledge of water and sewer line installation preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and construction site protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and a safety-focused work ethic.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
